  1. In the printer driver properties window of the application, select the printer driver of the machine and click the [Preferences] button

  2. Click the [Job Handling] tab

  3. Enter user information

    • When authentication is carried out using the login name/password, set the [Login Name] and [Password] checkboxes to , and enter your login name and password. Enter the password using 1 to 32 characters.
    • When authentication is carried out using the user number, select the [User Number] checkbox and enter your user number using 5 to 8 digits.
    If you have configured 'Printing Policy' in the [Configuration] tab so that user authentication is always performed, user information cannot be entered here.
    User information must be entered in the dialog box that appears each time the user starts a print job.
  4. Enter the user name and job name as necessary

    • Click the [User Name] checkbox, and enter your user name using up to 32 characters. The entered user name will appear on the touch panel of the machine. If you do not enter a user name, your PC login name will appear.
    • Click the [Job Name] checkbox, and enter a job name using up to 80 characters. The entered job name will appear as a file name on the touch panel of the machine. If you do not enter a job name, the file name set in the application will appear.
    To have a confirmation window appear before printing starts, select the [Auto Job Control Review] checkbox.
  5. Click the [OK] button to start printing

Mac Printer Hold For Authentication Error

  • Click on the Add Printer button which is a plus symbol +. Select the Advanced Tab – (if you cannot see this: hold down the Ctrl key and click on the default icon. Select Customize Toolbar. Right click or hold click on the advanced item and select Add Advanced now click done.
  • In Mac OS X, you can click the (lock) button after entering your login name and password, or user number, to simplify operation the next time you wish to print based on the same user authentication.

  • The printer is connected through wi-fi. I can make photo copies. The Printer is an HP ENVY 5640. I've tried doing the reset that is shown on the printer but that doesnt work. I think it doesn't work because the printer update is locked. The Home Page with the 8 squares for Energy Save Mode, Web Services, Printer Update, Network Summary, etc.
